How to take off a door lock.
Your fingers will be on the outside decorative cover and your thumb on the inside retaining plate.

Unscrew and remove the two screws from the door lock.
Push your key in as far as it will go.
If any screws are exposed during this process remove them to release the lock and remove it from the door.
Gently pry it off or pull and twist it away from the door.

Pull the two halves apart out of the hole in.
Turn the key so that the keyway slot is in the exact position it was in when you inserted the key.

This is the correct position for the pin tumblers to align.
Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole.
